1. Prepare a House for Betta Fish

There are still many people who think that betta fish do not need a large aquarium and also a filter. Yet this is a big mistake. Small aquariums get dirty more easily and make the environment your betta fish lives in a worse place. This will cause stress, illness and even premature death.

Even though betta fish have the ability to survive in a bad environment, that doesn't mean they don't need an aquarium. Betta fish are anabantid, it has a special organ that allows the betta fish to breathe oxygen from above the surface and survive in muddy puddles for a while.

Betta fish are tropical fish that need clean water. Therefore a water filter is needed when you want to raise or raise betta fish. Diseased fish are usually caused by dirty water and an aquarium that is rarely cared for. The water filter is very important, without it, betta fish waste (urine, feces) and leftover food can make the water toxic.

Just because bettas come from shallow rivers doesn't mean they can be kept in small plastic bowls or tanks. The aquarium needed to make betta fish live comfortably is a minimum of 18 liters of water. Of course, the bigger the better. An 18 liter water tank is the lowest volume required to establish the nitrogen cycle.

In addition to needing a filter, betta fish also need a heater or heater. Basically, betta fish are tropical fish. If the water is too cold, your betta may get sick. But be careful, if the water is too hot, the betta fish will age faster. Choose a heater that is equipped with a thermostat so that the temperature in the water can be monitored.

In addition, buy small, fine pebbles so that your betta fish doesn't hurt itself. This gravel has an important role in your aquarium ecosystem. Beneficial bacteria will grow on the surface and can help break down waste. If you choose gravel made from pieces of large stones, food and waste from the aquarium can get stuck and damage the health of your aquarium environment.

2. Prepare Betta Fish Cultivation Equipment

The biggest mistake betta keepers make is that they try to breed in a regular aquarium. In fact, to breed betta fish, a special breeding tank is needed because fish seeds are very fragile and require clean water conditions. Keep the male betta separate from the tank so he doesn't see them as a threat.

Here are some of the equipment you will need if you want to be successful in breeding betta fish:

The second step is to buy equipment for the aquarium. . Give enough space for your pet betta fish. You don't need to add a substrate (the medium used to grow the plants, or the soil in the tank) as this will make it harder for the males to retrieve the eggs, and the fry may get stuck in them.

25 watt water-immersed heater. This is to make the water temperature in the aquarium to be ideal.

Sponge filter. A sponge filter is also needed to keep the water clean and not create too much current that can scatter the eggs.

Pump: filter sponge will use this to draw water from the tank or aquarium.

Plastic wrap or plastic wrap to create a moist environment.

Water moss or christmas moss. Fill the aquarium with lots of christmas moss to provide hiding places for the betta fish.

Indian almond leaves, or you can use Styrofoam as an alternative. This softens the water and provides a place for the male to build his bubble nest.

LED light to put on top of the tank or aquarium. The lighting of the LED lamps also needs to be adjusted.

Tank barriers to introduce your betta fish mate so they can get used to each other without risking their lives.

3. Prepare Betta Fish Parent

This step is the most important step. Success in breeding betta fish is based on the breeding partner you choose. Try to buy from a reputable breeder.

It may be cheaper to buy betta fish in the market or other places, but the chances of success in breeding betta fish will decrease. If you buy from anywhere you may not get information about the genetics and age of the betta fish. From here the chances of successfully breeding betta fish are very small.

Betta fish breed best when they are young, usually 4-12 months, maximum age 14 months. If the betta has poor genetics, the fry can become sick. If you

6. Monitor Betta Fish Breeding

After waiting all night, it's time to put the female betta in the same room as the male betta. From here the female will see the nest made by the male, she will judge whether the nest is up to her standards or not. Otherwise the female betta will swim away or some may even try to destroy the nest the male betta has built.

If the male betta starts to realize that he can grab the female, his appearance will become more complicated. After that he will start chasing the female and try to get her to mate. After that cover the tank using plastic wrap or plastic wrap. This aims to create moisture and maintain heat in the tank. The tank should be made very moist because it will help hatch eggs and fry development.

After the next few hours about 2-6 hours. Betta fish male and female will look like chasing. This is normal behavior, but you should keep an eye on it if things go wrong. From here, water moss or christmas moss plays an important role because it will become a hiding place for the female if things don't go the way she wants.

In this process, the female will continue to inspect the nest. Once she decides she is ready, she will begin the mating dance with the male. They will spread their fins and swim side by side, they will also show each other the appearance of their bodies. If the male is not interested or impressed by the female's appearance, he will bite and chase the female.

The female may find a place to hide until she is ready to lay eggs. He may also continue to hide until the male finds him and pursues him. There are also some females who go straight to the males with their heads lowered to show their submission. There are also females who will immediately fill the nest, spread fins and challenge the male to lay eggs.

7. Monitor Betta Fish Nests

This is usually done for 24-36 hours. The male will spend all his time taking care of the eggs. He will be busy blowing more bubbles. Or he could even build a new nest somewhere else and move all the eggs there. Most of the time the male spends swimming under the nest looking bored, and periodically checking to see if the eggs are ready to hatch.

Some of the first-time males may eat some of the eggs, and this is very stressful for the male. The male may just eat a few eggs that haven't been properly fertilized or something is wrong with the eggs.

8. Wait until the Betta Fish Eggs Hatch

When the eggs have hatched, the wriggling movements can shake the bubbles and they will fall. If the male sees this, he will catch it and return it. When they are all mentees, the male will be busy running to and fro to catch them and return them. The fry will hang down for the first few days and will slowly swim horizontally.

When they are free swimming, remove the male betta fish and feed them first of all small shrimp or small worms.
