HOW TO BREED GOES GOOD AND CORRECT
How to Successfully Raise Goose Easily and Cheaply - Goose is one type of bird that has a large body that comes from the genus Cygnus and the family Anatidae. In Javanese, geese or soang are usually called many. Swans are also the only water birds that can fly. There are many types of geese in the world. The largest swan species are the white swan, black swan, trumpet goose, and whooper swan which can reach 60 inches (1,524 m) in length and weigh up to 50 pounds or the equivalent of 22.7 kg. Their wingspan can reach three meters. In addition to these geese, there are also types of brown swans and mute swans.

Description of Goose
Goose has a profitable business potential as an alternative business for raising livestock. Because the number of breeders of geese and geese is decreasing when compared to other types of poultry, so this is our advantage because there are fewer competitors. In terms of marketing, it is still inferior to other poultry, especially chicken.
The following are some of the advantages that Goose has, including:
Has a larger body so that the resulting meat is also more
The size of the eggs is also bigger and there are more of them
The meat is denser than other poultry
The price is more expensive
One type of house guard geese
Raising geese is much easier than other types of poultry. Because geese are easy to adapt to their environment and are not susceptible to disease. So it is not surprising that many geese are cultivated in rural areas or villages because the atmosphere is quiet and there is not much pollution, so the risk of geese mortality is also low in rural areas. To get maximum goose farming results, we need to pay attention to the right way of raising geese.
Here is the proper way of cultivating Goose:
1. Proper Cage Preparation
Breeding geese can take advantage of the vacant land behind the house or in the yard for the cage. However, the location of the geese cage should be in a place far from residential areas because the geese make a very loud sound and can disturb residents. This cage will be used to sleep, eat, lay eggs, and protect themselves from wild animals. Goose is a type of animal that does not like to stay in the cage, so we also have to let it roam outside the cage. Make a cage with cheap and environmentally friendly materials, for example, bamboo. We recommend that the geese be separated between chicks, juveniles, and adults. For geese, chicks are placed in a special place that has a heater from an electric bulb to keep it warm.
The size of the goose cage is:
For one goose requires a cage measuring 1×1 m
The geese don't like being in the cage, so we have to make a yard so that the geese are easy to watch and don't roam too far. For yards measuring 3-4 x 1 m
Using a roof that does not leak, for example, tile, zinc, asbestos, or the like.
There is a place to feed geese, for example, a basin or bucket
Water should be outside the cage (yard) to keep the cage dry. It's a good idea to provide enough water so that it can be used for dipping goose heads and bathing. Otherwise, the goose will develop corrosion disease of the beak, nose, and eyes which will form a crust that covers the outside of the beak, nose, and eyes.
Make a nest to lay eggs. Nests can be made of dry straw, grass, or the like. Egg nest size 30x30x30 cm
The cage must be exposed to direct sunlight, usually, the cage is made facing east
The floor of the cage can be earth, cement, or wood. Make sure the floor is kept dry. For this reason, it is recommended that the cage floor is made of cement so that it is easy to clean.
The side of the goose cage is kept tightly closed so that the wind does not easily enter. Can also use plastic to cover around the cage
In addition, it is also important in maintaining the cleanliness of the cage which must be cleaned regularly. For example, by cleaning the cage from the rest of the feed and goose droppings and by washing or cleaning the eating and drinking places that function so that the geese maintain their health and the beauty of their feathers. The goose disease that often attacks is snot (cold disease) and is paralyzed due to a bacterial infection or because of the entanglement of threads wrapped around the legs.
2. Selection of Good Goose Seeds
The parent is one of the determinants of the results of geese cultivation and later offspring. Therefore, we must be selective in choosing broodstock. The selection of broodstock is also determined by our goal of cultivating geese. If we keep it for just a hobby, we have to choose goose seeds that have the type according to our taste. If you want to make a meat goose, you have to look for a goose from the offspring of fat breeds. And for laying eggs, choose the one whose offspring are many in each spawn. And of course, we also have to choose good-quality goose seeds. Types of good and quality geese include Toulouse, Ambden, African, Pilgrim, and Chinese. If you have difficulty finding imported seeds, you can use local seeds which are of course also of high quality.
We often hear that geese are usually monogamous, which means that a male goose only mates with one female. But this does not apply to traditional cultivation, because it turns out that a male goose can mate up to 3 females in one cage.
3. Quality Feeding
Goose food is not much different from other poultry, namely rice bran, plants, small animals. However, for maximum growth, poultry should be fed at least 2 times a day (morning and evening). During the day we leave to find our own food. Because geese are famous for being fierce animals, one way to tame geese so they are not fierce is to feed the geese with your own hands. This method is often used by geese keepers.
The thing that must be considered is the balance of nutrients for good growth. For feed, we can give corn, wheat, chopped snail meat, tofu dregs, aking rice (rice leftovers that are dried in the sun), and additional feed such as bran mixed with vegetables or leftovers. Goose chicks can also be given voer type feed with a high protein content which can help the growth of the goose chicks. In addition, geese can be fed small fish so that they are the same as their natural habitat.
During the breeding and maintenance period, it is advisable to give feed that is 15% protein with added vitamins at the same level. That way the growth and development of geese will increase rapidly, so that egg and meat production will also increase.
4. Laying and Incubating Period
When it is time to lay eggs and incubate, geese need a special nest to keep their eggs awake. And at that time the goose becomes very aggressive, so we must avoid disturbing it.
The problem that often occurs is that geese are not good at incubating eggs and their feathers are not able to warm the eggs to the maximum, as a result, many eggs do not hatch. This can be overcome by inserting eggs that are being incubated into the nests of chickens that are incubating because chickens have a warmer body temperature. When the goose eggs have hatched, they can be transferred to the mother again. But it is better to hatch eggs with an incubator.
5. Harvesting
There are no special provisions for harvest time. We can select which geese are ready to be harvested and which are not. However, it should be taken into account that when the goose is too old, the meat is tougher. In general, geese can be harvested when they are 4 to 6 months old. Meanwhile, if you want to harvest eggs, usually geese start laying eggs when the geese are 9-10 months old. For laying geese, the productivity period of geese reaches the age of 10 years. In one egg-laying, geese can produce up to more than 10 eggs. If you want to breed geese, you should marry male geese with female geese. Then the brood will lay eggs and incubate them. Do geese lay eggs every day? The answer is no. Geese only lay eggs at certain times. In 1 year geese can lay eggs 3 times.
