The equipment needed is also not so complicated and expensive that you can breed guppies on a household scale. This cultivation activity is certainly very useful, it can be used as a business field or just as a hobby for ornamental fish. Here are the steps for guppy fish cultivation at home.

Preparation

The equipment that needs to be prepared is a spawning container such as an aquarium measuring 30 to 60 liters. Prepare supporting tools such as filters and aerators as well as aquatic plants such as java moss or hydrilla to encourage brooders to mate quickly.

Parent guppies

Breeders that are ready for spawning are at least 4 months old. The female parent who is ready to spawn will look rounded with a color that tends to be dull and the fins are not cracked. Meanwhile, the male parent who is ready to spawn will have a contrasting and bright body color, his body looks slimmer than the fins that are open.

Parent to be spawned must be placed in a separate container. Clean water in the container needs to be changed every 1-3 days. You just need to remove a third of the water and add a third of the new water. The feed given is daphnia or moina 2 times a day.

Spawning process

The process of spawning guppies can be done in bulk or one by one. However, you should do mass spawning so that the spawning process takes place more quickly and practically. The ratio between male and female fish in the spawning pond is 1:5. The spawning process will last for 4-7 days. Fertilized females should be immediately transferred to hatcheries equipped with aeration.

Hatching seeds

The quality of the water in the hatchery needs to be maintained by changing a third of the water every 1-3 days. Guppies' gestation period lasts for 3-4 weeks after spawning. At that time, the parent needs to be fed every two days in the form of daphnia or moina.

Nursery

One parent guppies can produce 30-100 fry. The seeds that have come out must be transferred to a nursery made of cement tanks. Guppy fry do not need to be fed for 3-5 days after hatching because the fry still have food reserves. After one week, the seeds can be fed artemia or water fleas.
